Movie dream team

Making moviesSo, let's say you were making a movie, and let's say money was no object in terms of getting the cast you want for it. Let's also assume that anybody whose work you have seen and admired is available. You've got the pick of the bunch. Whether your thing is low-budget Belgian cinema or overinflated Hollywood stylings, what would be your dream cast?

The only limits I will put on your imagination is that you must choose six actors or actresses. They can be any mix you like, any age, etc, but they must all be alive and you must use them at their current age. So you can't say "a young Robert De Niro", for example.

Here are mine:

Christopher Walken
Johnny Depp
Eamonn Walker
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Giovanna Mezzogiorno
Jennifer Connelly.

(What's great -- and this is totally coincidental -- is that all of these people have previously been mentioned in my writings in blogland. Click the links to refresh your memories if you wish.)

Walken has to play Depp's dad. Giovanna and Jennifer are best friends who met while the latter was travelling in Europe. Not sure what roles to give Walker and Hoffman yet, but they're great at everything, so it really doesn't matter.

Join in the fun... Leave your six in the comments box! I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Red: Sorry dude. Sheesh, see what I gotta put up with. Good list; I considered the Leto, but I knew you'd blow a fuse. Figured I'd played safe...

Candy: I thought six would be tough to find, to be honest, but once I started it got difficult to narrow it down. Cool choices there. I like them all, and most of them have yet to hit their full potential, I think (excluding Bobby R and Jessie L, natch).

The things I'll do instead of work! Sheesh!

Keanu Reeves cuz even though he's a terrible actor, he's way up there on the jerk-offable scale and he's in a bunch of my favorite movies.

Tom Cruise, if it were a movie about "outing" a straight guy who was a big giant asshole, but became a great guy once he admitted that he was a frilly-panty wearing bonesmuggler.

Edward Norton - he's just great.

Marky Mark - REALLY love him...so he'd have to be nekked quite a bit.

Owen Wilson cuz he makes me laugh and I find his nose endearing.

Ed Harris - there's just somethin about him.

Hmmm...I didn't get to the girls.

Christian Bale - plays psychopathic loners, arresting performances

Amy Adams - fiery redhead, loved her in Junebug

Susan Sarandon

Paul Newman - a swansong needed from him

Steve Carell - best actor with comedy around

Here's my dream team...(chosing only 6, is pure torture)
today, the list goes along those lines... tomorrow I am sure I may have another list.

directed by Quentin Tarantino: (crazy f* up movie)
- Harvey Keitel
- bruce willis
- Samuel L jackson
- john travolta
- uma thurman
- natalie portman

As with every dream team, there are bench players... so I am going to cheat and use this option.
here is my bench crew.

Directed by Clint Eastwood: (to make you cry/drama movie)
- donald sutherland
- sean penn
- scarlet johanson
- clive owen
- morgan freeman
- dakota fanning

I would be the prodcer and I would have Keira Knightley and jessica alba as my assitants!

this proved to be a most difficult exercise, you have no idea how many times I had to erase, and modify... you are cruel.
I am still not sure of my lists... eventhough I cheated, I could have and add many combination...
arrrgh...
great idea mate.

johnny depp
edward norton
natalie portman
nicole kidman
christopher walken
ewan mcgregor

i'm sure if i actually had time to think i'd switch it up a bit, but i also knew thinking about it would be tortuous... so i just went with my instincts... for a comedy cast... it'd be totally different... like:

owen wilson
kate hudson
steve carrell
dana carvey (whatever happened to him)
amy poehler
martin short (or robin williams... can't decide)

Walken & Depp get my vote - but there would have to be some weird song and dance routine plus the obligatory father and son "watch up the ass" monologue.

Wow, some really cool lists here, many featuring people that I also considered. Once it looks like everyone has had their say, I'm going to do a list of six from other people's selections.
