Word from Birmingham
Yesterday afternoon we finally received word back from Birmingham. The doctors there agreed with the original diagnosis of metastatic brain cancer.
Before the day was out, a phone call was then placed to my mum, inviting her to a "planning appointment" on Monday, which will be followed by her first session of radiotherapy.
Subsequent sessions will take place over the following days of the week -- that is, she will receive treatment Monday to Friday next week.
This is not really the news I/we were hoping for. But it is at least some sort of forward movement. Something is finally happening beyond simply waiting.

Waiting is always the worst. At least you all know what you are dealing with now and can get to kicking it's ass. Sending positive thoughts to you and your Mum. :)
Hey mate, sorry to hear this. My mum is the same age as yours and I'm sure it's terrifying. I hope you are getting lots of love and support and that your mum is getting the best care.
When I was about 11 my dad got throat cancer and was given just a few weeks to live. But they misdiagnosed him. He had cancer but it wasn't a death sentence. He has a big chunk missing from his neck, it's a bit scary.
After that, you think he would have been happy to have been given a second chance. But he wasn't. He just talked about death non-stop. I never got that.
Anyway. Every one has a story about cancer. It's just everywhere and I wish it wasn't.
I hope your mum will be ok.

At least the waiting and the not knowing are over.
