Sharia law in UK. And football outside of the UK

There's been some talk about Sharia law coming to the UK. It's "inevitable" says the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Um, no, it's not inevitable, you dumb fuck. It's totally fucking evitable. Jesus Christ on a bike, what is wrong with this country? We already have our laws, and they are perfectly abide-by-able for most of us, so why can't the Muslims be expected to live by them too? What's next, special dispensation for Jews? Atheists? Mormons?

"Love it or fucking leave it" -- that's the US motto [expletive my own] that I saw plastered all over New York when I went there in February 2002, just five months after 9/11. Sure, it might have been partly jingoistic xenophobia, but the sentiment is absolutely right. Live by our laws, or get the fuck out.

-----------

And another thing...

How is it that the British government -- the same British government that has in recent months advised its citizens to holiday in the UK more to avoid adding to the pollution caused by so much air travel -- how is that they can even allow the British Football (soccer) Association to consider having Premiership matches played in other parts of the world, including New York, Los Angeles, and parts of Southeast Asia, among others. Okay, so it's not yet a done deal, but what the fuck?!

Again, it seems it's one rule for the plebs and another for the big guns. Cunts. They're all a bunch of cunts. Aaaaagghhhhhhh!

Yeah, I'm of the 'when in Rome' camp myself. But since the establishment is running scared of Islam, fuck knows what they'll agree to next.

Is this introduction...or discussion about introduction...going to be in British law...or is it something communities can option for holidays and such? In msome Canadian schools there are holidays taken...and school work is assigned and compensated around for Channukah, Passover, Christmas, Veterans Day and various belief systems rituals.

Hey...what if it means a national paid holiday for everyone...that might be nice?

Sorry I'll try to read some more info...I didn't understand the way the sharia laws would affect the country maybe...

now that's what i call a rant.

yeah... love it or leave it may sound harsh, but i think it's appropriate. i can't stand all the people bitching about how terrible america is. if you hate it so much here... if the rest of the world is so much better... get the hell out.

and i think it's fine for you to say the same for england. definitely don't understand the desire or need to enforce an entirely new set of laws throughout the country just because one group thinks they're necessary (or whatever is actually happening with that sharia law nonsense)

Martha's right about countries maintaining their beliefs and laws...and her and I have had some discussions about this regarding Canada and U.S. (many people would like to see Canada change it's health care system...and become shared with America and prescriptions and stuff...big business resents Canadas universal health care system and U.S. politicians have tried to pressure Canada to go to Iraq war and change marajuana laws...so I can hear ya---I say let Canada be Canada!)

Um, you know what I liked...was a few years ago when I Holland (?) had a welcome pamphlet for newcomers...it said how homosexuality womens rights were tolerated and don't bother to visit or move unless you accepted those human rights...

Now, the thing that might be interesting about Sharia law is how it would coincide with human rights laws in England...because they would have to jibe.

But I don't really understand yet...I thought it was some kind of holiday or options for beahavior in families...

I wondered if the idea was to "offer an olive leaf" to a community that feels hatred and partly the misunderstanding between religions of Muslim and U.K./U.S. mightbe an attempt to mellow animosity for relief from "hate" and bombings...you know? Like if Musliims felt they could practice faith adn customs they would not take resentment out on U.K.?

Sugar?

P.S. Your first paragraph is the reason why I think religious leaders of all kinds should just shut the fuck up when it comes to politcs, ethics, the law, entertainment and everything else in general.

People. They do what they want and only what they want.. They are the big people of a country so they think its worth every minute of there time to worry us that have no say in what they want to do with the rules and then expect us to follow them.

I have so much to say on this subject. Mostly, if I am new to an environment, I try to exist within its culture. I couldn't stand Texas culture past 4 years so I left. Even from State to State, if you don't like the community and culture, you leave, there will be few changes made for you should you stay. Americans are slow to change and accept, but I suppose thats everywhere.

z say's "find another place"

I assumed they had one already. There own fucking country.
The problem is that when you try to stand up for retaining our own laws, beliefs, way of life etc you can be percieved as being racist. Which isn't the case.
These people MUST realise that it is our country. Shit or get off the pot!
Thank you.

Um, there already are official Jews-only courts in the UK, where they can sort things out 'their way'. Jewish divorces and dealers' tiffs etc. Mein Leben schon! Wonder is its an eye-for-an-eye Old Testament sort of Law?
