Prince causes a stir. And hot blonde action (help please!)

It's a long time since Prince was last making headlines, but this weekend he finally went through with his plan to shake up the music industry. We knew it was coming, and come it did.

His latest album, Planet Earth was released in the UK, ahead of its issuing elsewhere, FREE in a Sunday newspaper. The Mail on Sunday is not a rag I would ordinarily purchase, but 10 brand-new Prince tracks were enough to see me part with my £1.40 (US$2.85).

The album is released in the rest of the world at full price next week, but it will not be available via traditional routes in the UK. This was our only chance to purchase it here, apparently. I've not listened to it yet, but the snippets I've heard sound okay so far.

Another thing I'm trying to do is come up with my list of favourite blonde chicks, as encouraged by Wife, who has posted her list of hot blond blokes over here. I'm not doing so well, so please feel free to make some suggestions. Typing "hot blondes" into Google's image search doesn't seem to be giving quite the results I was hoping for... Maria Bello is on the short list, though, hence her picture above.

hmmmm lemme think: Madonna is hot, but she is a fake blond. Paltrow is paultry, Stefani you take the make up off and she's a Stefano, Pamela Anderson is full of extentions (everywhere).

Marilyn Monroe: OK, she wasn't naturally blond, but she was THE blond.

I just couldn't bring myself to pay for The Mail. Hadn't realised this was the only way I'd get the album. Bastards.

Oh, as to the blondes, give me a brunette any day - Monica Belluci for example - hotter than any blonde I can think of.

Milla: Fake blonde is fine, even if only for a short time. Don't care for Paltrow; don't think I could get past Stefani's terrible music; Pammy... I dunno. The breasts are a bit too comedic, aren't they? Marilyn was THE blonde, but I think I'm gonna try to stick with living blondes.

G/puss: I know where you're coming from on the Mail front... Well, of course Monica would do pretty darn well in the non-blondes list, should I ever make one.

I suppose the worry is that new music is seen as on the same level as the other free tat that falls out of a paper on a Sunday. However we've been paying well over the odds for CDs in the UK for years now so anything that shakes that up a bit has to be applauded.

Hot blondes? Cameron Diaz always comes across as someone who'd be great to go out drinking with. Other than that I'd go for Scarlett Johanssen and Kate Winslet. However I definitely prefer brunettes. Do that list and I could give you ten names without even thinking.

Martha: Winslet so doesn't do it for me. I get Kate Hudson, but don't really "know" her (i.e., know her work or interview persona) enough to consider her for the list.

Martino: As above on the Winslet front. Agree on Diaz. As for Scarlett: I'd be wary of any woman who gets AIDS tested as often as she says she does, unless they were in the porn industry! Brunettes much easier. (I mean better!) Re the music thing: I know what you're saying, but one person's tat is another's treasure! And you know we been paying too much too long.

Kate Hudon and Cate Blanchet are two at the top of mine. What about the blonde chic from The Descent? HA.

Red: Well, it goes without saying the redheads are best, but I'm just throwing a bone to those unfortunates who don't have red locks. x

Shea: I don't think I care for Hudson or Blanchett. And I don't remember the Descent woman...

Martha: I've seen Almost Famous. Wasn't she a bit of a sad loser in that? That was my take anyhoo! Scarlett Johanssen hot? I dunno, man. More like an okay-looking guy in drag, no?

LUVM: Cuthbert hasn't even been on my radar until quite recently, but I can sort of see the appeal. Scarlett: drag alert!

RefPo: Current and/or fake is fine. Suggest away!

4D: Yeah, I'm going to go for the alive thing -- call me old-fashioned. Patsy was perhaps okay when I was 16, but after a Gallagher boy, who'd want to go anywhere near her now?!

Candy: Can you believe it's, like, his 46th album?! That's fucking mental! Chloe Sevigny, hmmm... I dunno, man. I think she's kind of cool/okay, but not hot, y'know. And cool is cool -- can't knock cool -- but I'm going for hot hot hot here.

Cappy: I don't know Steph; Bambi is but a child; and Wendy James is, well, old, surely, by now? That Helen, though, I sort of know her face from TV. Scarlet ain't working for me, though.

Tanya: Emily has long been high up my list of fave blondes. And Portia is okay, too. Good picks, girl.
