Need a reminder of your mortality?

No, nor do I, but it seems death is everywhere right now. Much as it always is, I guess.

Sacred cow Shambo slaughtered over TB concerns

Former heavyweight champion boxer shot dead for asking someone to stop smoking

The cat that can sense that someone is dying

Way to take the fun out of life, right? Well, after all that, I think I need a lie down and a stiff drink.

It may be no consolation but in Scotland this year for the first time in a while there were more births than deaths.

I'll join you in that drink.

It's early...but I'll have a drink too. A nice drink awakens the "yes impulse" which is way better than the no impulse...

I was fascinated by that cat story. I guess a little like the dogs that can diagnose or recognize cancer in people way before docs or symptoms show up...

What a depressing start to the weekend, although I did find the cat story fascinating.

I guess I'm going to have to stop on the way home and pick up a couple of Strongbows or Newcastles...

*A, You forgot to add the link to the kid shot dead in South London by some buys on a bicycle.

I'm a pretend straight edger so I'have a strong coffee instead of the stiff drink.

I don't doubt the cat story for a minute. They are amazing and mysterious creatures. I'm reminded though never to ask somebody to not smoke, that's for sure.

I'm with mister anchovy - I will politely and QUIETLY remove myself from smoker areas. Cats & dogs have a way of curling up with those they know are sick. When one of them poops on the floor I get so mad, then they turn around and act actually smart and intuitive. Go figure.

Holy Crap. That was depressing. Think I'll go have a nip of me vodka now.

I love cats but that is one that I would not like to sit on my lap!

I'm off to find some happy news now...

Who says the mass media only focus on the negative?

Death is the only certainty - there's some comfort in that.

wow, asterisk. some sad stories... no more asking people not to smoke for me! i'll just move away.

but i like the cat story... animals are so neat. my cats always know when i'm sick and are much calmer and tend to curl up near me at all times. i love animals :)
