It’s one of those things, innit?

Facebook, I mean.

Those of us who do this blogging thing seem to have a compulsion to find out about and join other Web-based thingamajigs. Those of us who grew up in an era when people had real, flesh-and-blood friends who they'd meet up with once in a while might not fully understand what all these things are for.

Facebook, MySpace, BeBo, and whatever the fuck else is out there for "social networking". I read a few months ago about one social-networking site aimed specifically at black people, and that it is devised as neighbourhoods that you aspire to or something. I forget the name now. Oh hold up, it might be The Block. Something like that, anyways.

I have a Facebook account, just as I have a YouTube account, two MySpace accounts, and several blogs. But I don't know many people on Facebook. I've been there a few weeks, but no one I know in real life has one. And my Facebook account is in my real name. I know Cappy is on there, and Shea and Adam and Martha. And Will and James K.

So... do I hook up with peeps who I know only in blogland? Or do I set up yet another online thingy with my nom de plume? Oh, I just don't know anymore. It's complicated having all these personae. I feel like a superhero. Without the super powers, obviously.

There's your real name there? I'm gonna check!
Thank the gods I only do blogging. I have a My space account only coz these days the bands I like update their myspace pages much earlier than their official websites. Bastards.

I would have thought that with all these personae you'd feel a little schitzo?

I have a myspace page I have done nothing with and this blog. Facebook huh?

I had a MIRL with CEO. I really enjoyed meeting him. I would venture to say I know some bloggers more intimately than I know some of my friends. It seems bloggers share more on an intimate level than face to face. It's the face to face that seems more intimidated and shy. Crazy right?

well man...i think you should ask me to be your friend on Facebook. Facebook is different than a blog...I use it just to keep up with people when they change their profiles and add things about themselves or what they are doing. A blog I check everyday to hear what you ahve to say. So...I would be honored to be your facebook friend. We can write bad words on each others walls for no reason so people will think we are hardcore. You know...those kinda fun things.

I am on Facebook. I use my nom de plume. I am a bit more personal on it, as I have it set to be viewed by friends only. I would invite you to be my friend, but I don't know your real name, and I don't even know how to invite someone...Look for me and invite me, either to your real account or your newly created nom de plume account.

Pool: Hey, what's yer MySpace page? Let's be MySpace buddies! I agree with you about knowing some blogpals better than "real pals". Most of the time, working from home and all, I think I have no real-life friends anyway. Weird, huh?

Shea: Yeah, it is different. I'm still kinda "umm" about it all. It's like coming out or something after being masked for so long! Maybe I just think too much...

Camie: Ah yes, I see you there! Well, I'll do something, I'm sure.

I have a myspace page but I never use it. I have enough trouble keeping on top of the blogs let alone the myspaces, facebooks, etc... I don't like the fact that you can't it out without registering. Not kosher.

I am on facebook, too. Camie is my facebook, buddy, and I do know her real name, she is listed as Camie on my friends list. When I write on her wall, I call her Camie, when I write to her, I call her by her name. You could look for me there..I use my real name. Not hard to find me, as I have a photo with my big head and all.....

I'm with Karen...having one blog keeps me overwhelmed...and I feel like I want to have more time to visit everybody. The least thing that happens in real life takes away time to visit everybody. Right now I am also guest blogging at Mister Anchovy's. that's kind of fun because I like the challenge of thinking what would he be introduced to by my posts for him...and what can I give his regular visitors.

But I'm pooped.

I hear for many people that facebook is an absolute party...much like high school and college. That appeals to me but I just don't have time. It's a miracle I have a computer.

I could live my life in cyberspace and forget human contact. Mostly. However, I'm finding that I dawdle around on my blog and don't do the work (digital art & developing websites) that i need to do. Ha ha, at least when I'm really old, I can have fun.....and not leave the house.

Facebook is interesting - I'm on with some of the other bloggers but haven't been able to do it justice. I also set up a preliminary myspace but am not content with the format - especially after seeing some of the other really nice ones. My grandson did a marvelous one - but the subject matter wasn't appropriate for a teen. Ooops.

One thing I've noticed about My Space other than predators love it, it can be a useful venue to sell art or music. Or at least show it off very nicely.

I need to get to YouTube - my degree is in multimedia and I am ohhhhhhhhhhhhh so rusty - maybe I can get my cats to perform.

Anyway, here's to super powers - may we gain even more....yah.

Gee, when I was "telling all" on the Commissioners - I was getting up to 300 hits per day! I should make a special blog to keep the Wyoming folk going!

I stick to the blog and a MySpace page to give me access to some pole pals' pages - both with my nom de plume. I can't keep track of all my passwords and email accounts as it is! One is in danger of spreading one's self too thinly.

i don't like facebook. I like to spy on people and you have to befriend them to do that which I resent as it negates the point. I don't like the layout either.
I am a myspacer at heart even though I'm too old. I met my boyfriend on there hehe. I would never have met a spongebob-loving, creative, obsessive bright eyes fan who looks like that fit one from the OC in real life.
I don't bother with it as much as I used to. I had to make my profile private cos my friend went nuts.
I mostly just moan in my blog on there. moan, moan moan. I'll befriend you guys. Bet you're looking forward to it already. ;-)
