They get payed thousands a week but they're crap compared to Italy, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Outer Mongolia etc etc. Drop the lot n pick a squad from the lower divisions. They'd get beaten just the same but at least they'd go down giving their all.

I do not concur. When Beckham was playing everyone slagged him off - true to form they now want him back. One man - and certainly not him - would not have made enough of a difference. They were all crap.

It's not that I really even care that much, because the team is so often a big fucking let-down. But it's the repetition of it all, the hopeless inevitability.
Ems: Not everyone slagged Beckham off when he was playing. And much of what was in the press you must remember has a southern bias, ie anti-Man Utd, as he was at the time. He still played a better World Cup than many of the England squad, though.

True enough, Spangly, but historically is that not just because they have been such a dominant force? ("Nobody likes a gloater, Lisa," as Marge Simpson once said.) Add that to the north-south divide and the power of the press, and all hell breaks loose.
Ems I agree, Beckham was actually crap in the last few games he played but it was disgraceful the way he was treated. He should tell them to fuck right off if they ask him back. Every footy fan is the same - they slag the player off when they are off form and adore them when they are on form.
Beckham was actually playing for Real at the time not Man U shited.
ACT: He's got older, for sure, and he's not at his best, but he still scored at the World Cup, against everyone's expectations and all the nay-sayers. My Man U comment was about the past, a few years back, when he would get even more of a slating than he does now; not meaning this recent WC.
Oh I totally agree - he wasn't at his best at all but they still shouldn't have got rid of him so soon. Look at some of the others who played well then and are not now (Pig-faced cunt for example as you so eloquently put it.) Although to that I would add 'fat' pig faced cunt.
ACT: He's certainly chubbier than most on the park, that's for sure.
