“He’s a Gecko” (to the tune of “In the Ghetto”)

As the sand flies
On a warm and bright Sahara morn
A cute little baby lizard's born
He's a gecko.
And his mama sighs
Cos if there's one thing that she don't need
It's another little pink forked tongue to feed
He's a gecko.

People, don't you understand
Lizards need a helping hand
Or they'll grow to be some angry old crocs some day.
Take a look at you and me,
Are we too dumb to see?
Or do we simply turn our feet
And walk the other way?

Well, the world turns
And a hungry lizard runs on three-foot'd toes
Playin' in the sand as the warm wind blows
He's a gecko.

And his hunger burns
So he starts to roam the dunes at night
And he learns how to forage
And he learns how to bite
He's a gecko.

Then one night in search of insects
The gecko breaks away
He climbs a wall, he sees a door,
He makes a run, but don't know what for...
And his mama cries.

As a crowd gathers round a tiny young thing
Crawlin' 'cross the middle of a huge kitchen
It's the gecko.

And the lizard sighs,
On a warm and bright Sahara morn,
Another little baby lizard's born
He's a gecko.
And his mama sighs.

He's a gecko.
He's a gecko.

I knew this would be genius the moment you sang that first verse to me! Pure gold.

Brilliant - you must record! This made my day - which turned out to be depressing - now I'm smiling.

Do you think maybe I've got too much time on my hands? It would be cool to record it (yes, I wrote it, Cappy). I tried to find a free download karaoke version, but to no avail.

Wow, you wrote that? It's brilliant and it scans - often when people put other words to a famous tune they don't quite fit. You really should record it!
Oh yes and I agree with the comment above, release it for Christmas and save us all from Sir Cliffs latest horror, oops sorry, I mean effort.

Yea, this was my first time actually watching blade runner from beginning to end - I really liked it, but it was the inconsistency that got me: what happened to the other replicant?

There were 6, right? one got killed shortly after the crash: so that would leave Zhora, Pris, Roy and the dude w/ the mustache - so who was the last one?

Kate: Thanks! Rest assured, if I have a version on a karaoke CD here (yes, I have a couple, to my shame), I will be recording it before you can say "Tribute to Steve Irwin".

Adam: Wow! First time... I sent you an email about that point you made.

Candy: That's excellent! If and when my record comes out, I'll be sure that you get the commission to make the video.

I would say genius but I don't want you getting a swollen head. Oh allright. Genius. Love it. can't stop singing it. Getting odd looks off Caz n Jax. Your fault.

That's funny, 4D! I went through my genius-complex period a few years ago, and now I know I'm not one, so it wouldn't go to my head.

Martha: You don't know In the Ghetto? Wow! I intend to do all I can to change that...
