Proper British!

You know the boxes on supermarket shelves that products stand in? I nicked the front off this one last night. Thought I should put it on my blog to remind myself that HP Sauce is proper British, just like me (even if I've become a bit Italianized over the years).

Well. there probably is something that is proper English. I like the "brand" it's cool. I like HP sauce too....and also eat it on eggs and sausages. I rarely have it at home. Now, I thought it was kind of a riff on chutney? I have actually made my own chutneys that come out tasting a lot like HPSauce.

We used to have lots of stores in Canada called Marks and Spenser, which we called Marks and Sparks...which sold all things British. I always bught a bathign suit from them every year, and cookies and pies at the inter holidays. they left Canada about 10 years ago. Many chutneys, jams but Hp Sauce is easy to find in grocery stores.

now that it is being made in holland, do you think they will replace the original labels picture with one of a brothel?

Candy: We still have Marks & Spencer here, but my town is too skanky for it! And we call it Marks & Sparks too; or at least we used to, maybe less so now. I'm glad you can find HP.

Cappy: So it could be a good thing, you're saying?

_z.: Yeah, I think you're right!
