The Middle East, continued

Thanks for the comments, guys n gals. It's not that I have any in-depth knowledge on this subject, but as with many of my posts, I simply wrote from the gut.

Now here are a couple of things that I neglected to put in yesterday...
  • Lebanon, as a country, is not even responsible for the kidnapping of the soldiers. The "terrorist organization" Hezbollah is behind it. Interestingly, though, Hezbollah is not considered a terrorist organization by the European Union (EU), although the EU does accept that Hezbollah has committed terrorist acts.

  • It seems to me that this attack from Israel is akin to Britain bombing the fuck out of Ireland in response to one IRA bombing. Fuck - not even a bombing. You. Just. Can't. Do. It. You have to target those responsible, and not destroy the whole fucking nation, indiscriminately bombing innocent civilians.
But, as I say, I'm absolutely no expert on this. I have an opinion based on limited knowledge. I'm just saying it as I see it.

Thanks again.

And if you want a perspective that is different from the majority, check out these two blogs, as well as the Wikipedia link above:

We need to take a stand. It;s okay to take a stand. they are going too far for too long, there is no mystery about it.

They are all being assholes.

We don't need to take sides. There is no side.

People need to co-operate with each other, period.

We need to conduct a zero tolerance of the behaviour in Middle East.

Space is a premium. Instead of sharing all parties decide to con favour through religion. No we have real estate and water shortages.

It's time to share.

It's time to tell the middle east to grow up or fuck off.

There is no history book or theory or "special understanding" of a people or culture or visits to a nation that justify this addiction to revenge.

There is zero excuse for this behaviour.

and anyone who takes sides can fuck off too, then you're as corrupt as they are ethically.

*(asterisk)_ thank you for everything.

Dear a.c.t (replying a comment you wrote in a previous post)

During my years of studies and training in architecture and urban design, I became fascinated with the idea and the subject of memory and collective memory. Both my theses dealt with collective memories of countries and communities, and the material representation of a memory into to public space (architecture, parks, streets, plazas, etc…)
I started urban-memories as a notepad to jot down my thoughts, and to organize and structure my ideas on the subject. It also entails some of my personal memories and my very modest theories of how memories work (therefore it became a bit more personal than I had intended). But that’s ok (I thought). I will get to more serious things as I go along.

Because of the unfortunate events happening in my country, the blog had to take a small detour. My rule#1 was not to bring up political and sectarian issues on my blog. I hope I can go back to writing about happier things as soon as possible.
So urban-memories is not about humor as you put it. But if every now and then, I can bring a smile to your face, I would be more than happy.

I wish it was as simple as that. I would love it if the WHOLE world grows up… oh how I wish they would FUCK OFF and leave us alone… We just want to live! In peace! We deserve it. Everybody deserves to live and be happy.

As *(asterisk) said, the Lebanese did not want this war. They have no saying in what is happening in their own country. Our military is very weak, and I guess we are just expendable. A country where tourism is the biggest employer, that was rising from the ashes, and booming exponentially economically and technologically, does not want a war. We just finished rebuilding our country, and now we watch it transformed into a tabula rasa, yet again.

The world wants a war in this region. Where better than Lebanon, the weakest country! Demographically, Lebanon consists of 60% Muslims, and 40% Christians. The Christians and at least 40% of the Muslims (my stats are approximate) don’t approve of the war. They didn’t even see it coming.
Read this if you want and if you have time:
urban_memories [the unfinished polaroids]: PLAY ON!

Anyway, *(asterisk) linked my blog. But you don’t have to read. I am just glad and happy to be able to explain once more that the Lebanese were never involved in any terror attack (EVER). This is why Lebanon is neither on the American black list nor the EU’s. The international opinion knows that now. They know who the real thugs are. But instead of striking the “source of evil”, they hit the weak…

PS: On my blog, I never accuse Israel or Hezbollah… I don’t care who started it. I don’t give a damn. I don’t want to get involved with politics. I don’t claim to be a political analyst.
I just want this shit to stop!
