Campioni del mondo!

You know what'll make this trophy look better? A hat, that's what!

Look at Barthez. You ain't gonna get that by acting like a turtle.

Portiere del torneo, Buffon.

That black mass at the top of the pic? That's Camoranesi's hair, which was ceremoniously cut off after the match. What better way to celebrate winning i Mondiali.

Umm, Marco, your shirt's on back to front...

You know how the Italian anthem goes:

Dov'e' la vittoria? Le porga la chioma
(Where is Victory? Offer Her your mane)?

That's just what Camoranesi did!

I didn't realise Gattuso took his shorts off. It had to be him...

Red: Good old Cam!

ACT: Clearly Gattuso feels "we have to take our clothes off to have a good time".

Where's the photograph of Zidane having his nipple tweaked?

Pleased for them all but especially Materazzi. He's had to fill in for Nesta which was never going to be easy.

I have to admit when he stepped up to take his penalty I thought "oh no, not Materazzi" but not for the first time in this World Cup I was delighted he proved me wrong.

Galatea: I opted not to depict Zidane on my blog at all. How's that for media control?

Martin: Nesta's boots are big one to fill, but Marco done good.

FF: Who knows. For sure he's no messiah; he's just a very naughty boy. Cheers, matey. Take care.

For those of us who follow Italian football we can remember him doing the same thing to a Hamburg player about six years ago. He's always had a nasty side.

Nothing's going to take the gloss off a great moment for Italy however. Everything should be about how well they played throughout the tournament, not that somebody lost the plot with ten minutes to go.

Forza Azzurri!

So proud of Perotta. Choosing Italy over England. I would too, and the nearest Italian in me was a next door neighbour with one leg who loves Lazio.

Ginkers: Well said. And those supporting Italy care not that the final was marred for a moment by an eejit.

4D: Sensible indeed.

Candy: What better way to fall asleep...?

RD: I love England, but Italy has more going for it in so many ways. It would be hard not to choose Italy.

Great photos - the French were bound to concede from one of Pirlo's expert corners, as soon as they decided to position the smallest man on the pitch on the goal-line...!

love Gattuso as I do I really don't need to see him in his pants

those horrendous D&G underwear ads were bad enough (Rino, Cannavaro, Pirlo, Zambro and someone else, can't remember who off the top of my head, in baby-oiled homoerotic pant posing fun)

AKR: Those corners were great, and others deserved to be turned into goals. Oh well.

SP: I know! I didn't want to come across as all gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), but Gatt in his pants was just so funny that it had to be included! Those ads are really awful, aren't they?
