The damp patch

No, not that sort of damp patch - the damp patches in my cellar (as mentioned in my post below).

Plumber came round last night, and it turns out that the shitload of rain we had (along with thunder and lightning) on Saturday night is the cause of our problem.

A couple of little fissures betwixt wall and pavement outside, and in pours the motherfucking rain. Shit. Cue me and some exterior mastic, and a whole heap of crossed fingers...

Hi ya Asterisk, yeah, I felt the hump. You know I'm from a military family right, and I'm like oh jeez, this is gonna be like my dad going over my homework...why did I sign up for this, heh heh. I thought it was a lot of fun though. I would recommend it to others, and I think it's cool what he is doing. I agree with what he wrote for defining a good blog. My blogroll is really long, but I use it all the time, my friends are on it, and my resource sites/quotes for writing are on it.

I told my boyfriend, I was like sheesh, it sounds like I'm very VERY lucky I have the odd couple of folks I hooked up reading their blogsm ade friends, and they are so nice to stop by mine...and we are so laughing because well, no one knows better than my boyfriend what a reading nerb bookworm I am and my blog is a lot of reading. I'm not going to change my interests or style though because I am kind of onto something that works for me, and I use a lot.

But trust me, I really have felt happy to meet you and that you are so patient and friendly to stop by my blog at all , ha ha ha!

Shit, I hope your plumbing situation works out....in Canada we call that needing a "weeping tile" I think. Was the rain unusual amounts...like a freak storm? I hope you get some sun so it all dries out okay.

Cheers and thanks for the heads up,
Candy

Yeah, freak storm. Totally came out of nowhere. Saturday daytime was glorious, but then Saturday evening: kaboom!

I think you're totally right about not changing your blog. I felt the same way after being humped. I made a couple of little easy changes, but I simply don't have the time for massive overhauls. And our own blog has got to be practical for us to use. But, y'know, the hump is an interesting experiment, and then it's up to the individuals how seriously they take it.

Oh no--how's it holding up? Are you forced into major repairs or can you put it off for another season?

Duuuude, that fucking sucks!! Shit. Sorry man. When the water decides to come in, it's real fucking hard to stop it. My buddy in PA (my guitarist actually0 had the same problem for a while. turned out to stem from like one cracked concrete diverter in his driveway. But mate, I feel your pain with water loss. My apartment in MD flooded TWICE! wankers.

anway. Sorry. long comment again.
