Happy Birthday, Adam Ant
Adam Ant is 52 years old today, not 83 as Lee suggested in yesterday's comment. I've been a fan since 1980 and the "Kings of the Wild Frontier" single. I still buy everything new that comes out. My first tattoo was one kinda like the one you see here: a heart with a sword through it, and the words Pure Sex. I got it done in 1990 to celebrate ten years of listening to Antmusic.

don't hate me, but i don't think i've ever actually heard anything by adam ant. i'll have to give them a listen... i've been meaning to since i've been reading you... but now it's official. when i wake up (it's 3 am here, and i'm about to go to bed)... i'm checking 'em out
i'll let you know what i think...
Hey Martha. What are you doing up at that time of night, young lady?! And even more shocking, you've never heard anything by Adam Ant?!?!?!?!? Well, you should start with Adam & The Ants, rather than the solo stuff, and the Kings of the Wild Frontier album (their second) is a good general introduction. Check out YouTube, too: there's lots of live TV stuff on there.
Happy Birthday, Adam!
My sister adored him. Me? I was a bit young, I think. Or maybe not so savvy.
I know that he suffers depression, though. Or have I got the wrong celebrity?
you listen to that hayseed dixie?
want their version of enter sandman? downloaded loads the other day. them, dropkick murphys(again) flogging molly, monty python, carrott........
life is good!
Happy birthday Adam. Only punk in my group who liked 'em. Still listen to me old vinyl 'Dirk' on a regular basis. 'Kings' is for party time....
Ahhh the dropkick murphys. Nothing better to listen to whilst drunk.
Adam and the Ants were my first pop band. I even had a stand and deliver mug.
Tanya: Yeah, he's bipolar, apparently. Had a rough few years. That which doesn't kill us..., and all that.
Cappy: I've replied to you by e-mail, as well you know!
4D: Dirk is obviously my favourite, too, but Kings is better for getting into them, I think, for someone with no prior, so to speak. I had an e-mail from an old mate the other day asking for a copy of "Fall In". People know where to find their Ant tracks!
RD: I don't know the Dropkick Murphys. S&D mug, eh? Never had one. I've got an Adam Ant ruler though, and an Ants lightshade.
I bet he looks great for 83! ;) I'll have to dig up my "Goodie-Two Shoes" single in honor of his b-day. Too bad I've got no way to play it!
Uh, wow, I'm embarassed, I have no idea who that is...but, sounds like he has a great following...gonna go Wiki right now....
The wife likes Adam Ant...myself...I never got it.
Wait...I remember why...
He sucks. ;)
Steve~
I wonder who gave him the idea to get that tatoo?
i work better late at night... so i was up cleaning and working on a story for work... thanks for the recommendations... i'll give 'em a listen and get back to you
Why of why have I not heard of Adam Ant? I need to do some serious research. I could be missing something very important.
My daughter sent me two CD's of Tiger Army and two of Horrorpops today. Yay!
My husband sent two CD's of "Devotionals for Women." Is that eclectic or what!
Adam Ant is pants and mad.
Of topic. I drop by here each day. Sometimes smile. Sometimes don't. But there's always something each day.
You are the equivalent of the bloke that people meet in the pub after work. You may not agree, care, or be amused. But you're fucking delighted to have the company.
This was genuinely meant as a compliment, but I've just read it back and realised it could be read any number of ways.
Oh well. All I mean is I have something in my Favourites called Nowt and my shoulders de-hunch when I click.
(I'm not gay or anything)
I love Adam Ant, and I have since I was about 11. My kids don't seem to care for him much, doesn't stop me from blasting him through the house.
He's bi-polar? Right on. Now I love him even more.
hah yeah when I heard on the radio that his birthday was up...I immediately thought of you.
Lee: You need to buy some CDs to replace your old vinyl.
LDBug: Seriously?! Wow, I'm amazed how many of you Americans haven't heard of Adam Ant... Poor deprived souls.
Steve: ... And those who have heard of him have this opinion? Shame on you, sir; and props to Tami!
Olives: Hee hee!
Martha: So... whaddya think? I suspect it's not your bag, to be honest.
Diana: Well, I'd be interested to hear what you thought.
TD: That's funny, about Adam being pants and mad, because (a) he's very good, and (b) the politically correct term is "bipolar". Really, "mad", in this day and age? You terrible man, you. Thanks for the compliment, which I took as one, by the way, hooer that I am. And I'm not gay either.
LOSLI: Good for you with the Antman on yer stereo. Sod the kids! I inflicted the Kings of the Wild Frontier album on Wife yesterday. I think she feels the same way as your kids. She just kept laughing, shaking her head, and saying things like: "I just don't understand why you like this."
APP: Ah, it makes me smile to think people are thinking of me on the other side of the planet! Thanks.
*(asterisk), you always educate me musically. thank you.
happy birthday adam ant
_z.: Glad to be of service, sir.
