See, that’s love...
Regular readers will remember my story a couple of weeks ago about my mother-in-law's feelings about my tattoos. (Find the post here.)
And yet, last week the wife and I received a parcel from Italy. In it were a pandoro, a panettone, a Christmas present for each of us (including Cat), a Settimana Enigmistica for Red, a copy of the latest Dylan Dog for me, and ... a tattoo magazine. She may not dig or understand tattoos, but still she went to the newsagent and got me a tattoo mag. I thought that was very sweet of her.

Very sweet indeed. It's nice when people surprise us like that, isn't it?
that was very cool of her! mine is in the dictionary under strega
She may not understand why you have them but that is love to me. My MIL is teaching me how to make home made hair ties this next weekend on our way home from MN back to WI.. Talk to you soon..
yeah , and if you became a serial killer she'd get you some rope , pliers and a lighter..
okay ..
maybe not
But if you get a swastika tattoo'd on your forehead that poor woman will always blame herself.
See? That's why I always wonder about kin and family and what those words mean...
Red's mum likes you A LOT, *Aste :)
She sounds like a seriously kickass mother-in-law!
that's so awesome!! my family still loves me, but they also still hate my tattoos.
ah well.
seriously... this made me smile :)
Very thoughtful...in fact...it's interesting because she totally wanted to make sure you knew she felt awkward or had thoughts about her attitude and behaviour from your previous visit.
She must have done some soul searching...maybe even talked o a friend about her feelings...and came up with the idea to give a gift that you would relate to and show she ...was accepting!
That really is sweet! She must think a lot of you, even if she will never understand about the tattoos.
