Wow, that’s a whole lot of sitting down doing nothing
I just left a comment over at Tideliar's place. For the first time ever, I counted up how many tattoo sessions I've had. My 11 clearly distinct tattoos have clocked up a total of 27 sittings since 1990, at least half of which have lasted around 3 hours. Ouch!

What is molt supposed to mean
Molt is the US spelling of moult, the verb to shed hair, feathers, etc.
Where on your body is the tattoo? I visited the Skin Project site and it looks fascinating and I would be quite keen to do it myself. She has so many people contact her. That must be awesome to be involved in such a remarkable undertaking.

Tanya, it's just above my left elbow, on the inner arm. I found it really interesting a concept, which is why I got involved. As I said to DS above, you can read my previous post on the subject via that link. (I might add that to the post, in fact.)
The surrounding stuff is simply my other tattoos on my forearm and upper arm, rather than intentional decoration for the word.
Deep Stoat, I think the trust factor is part of the intrique. I also imagine she has a backgound of work...which could be referred to?
I think its a very cool idea and I wonder if she might one day put photos all together of the words?

william burroughs would dig this no doubt...is it poetry, is it art is it literature irt's wonderfully all.
Jez: Thanks very much. I'm envious that you're getting new ink. Grrr. I've heard of Johnny Two Thumbs, but can't recall having seen any of his work, although I'm sure I must have. That's cool.
DS: As Candy says, there is past work to look at to check her style. I browsed. For me, the experiment and experience were the draws. And there had to be an element of trust, too.
Candy: Exactly right. I think one of her short stories was called "Dildo", so that didn't help allay the sort of fear that some people may have had! Seemingly the photos of the words will never be published, but pictures of the participants (without Skin tatts showing) might be. An exhibition perhaps?
Ok, I don't really get this skin project. She is writing a book or something and tattoo-ing one word on volunteer's skin? Does the person being "inked" have any say in what word gets tatooed to his/her skin? I mean, what if you get 'balls' or something like that. Or 'fart.' I don't think I'd get a tattoo at all, but if I had to be a word like balls or fart, I'd never do it.
Hi Sue Ellen. No, she's written a short story, and the only place it will be published is on people's skin as tattoos. The story has 2,095 words, so she needs 2,095 volunteers. You get no say in the word. If you don't like what you're given, you forfeit your role in the project. "Fart" might be embarrassing, granted..., but it doesn't have to be visible.

Asterisk, I must admit I find the whole idea of this fascinating.
What happens if one of the participants dies, can someone else take their place (word) or does it die with them?

I haven't seen High Tension/Switchblade Romance yet - so I'm not sure if it's better persay, but I thought it was quite good - we didn't get to see the UK ending, but I look forward to it on the DVD.
As for My Serpentine, We'll be carting it around to film festivals and whatnot - and it will be on DVD by October/November I would say. I'll see what I can do, maybe send you guys a copy!
I would be afraid that if I got a tatoo, I would immediately wish that I had chosen a different image. As a painter, I keep making paintings because I'm never quite satisfied with what I've done. I guess you can just get more and more tatoos....

I am laughing at peoples fear of not liking the word like what if it was "fart" or "balls"...
now I had a similar thought and it was what a fucking frag if you got the word "the" or "and" or "it's"
I mean that is more likely some sod out there had the word "end"
You can see some of the other words here. Some are illustrated; others aren't. I would have been happy with any word, to be honest.
Red has pointed out that there are some words that I wouldn't be happy with, in fact, such as pedophile or rapist. And that's true. Not surprisingly. But that's where trust in the author comes into play. She undoubtedly has put thought into the sort of words that nobody would likely want on their body; additionally, such words being rejected by potential participants would seriously hold up the whole process.
